Here are the updates to my job priorities "to-do" list, which I prepared for my meeting with the A.D.:
- Develop a user needs assessment for faculty, students and community.
- Create profiles for the different user communities.
- Conduct a collection analysis.
- Work on creating new acquisitions workflow with IDS.
- Create a new collection development policy.
- Develop a comprehensive plan for weeding and deselection of materials (proposed for Summer 2009).
- Create a new weeding policy.
- Re-examine department policies (lost books, notification of materials, ordering procedures, approval plans, purchasing requests, etc.).
- Develop (with new Head of Ref & Instruction) a plan for restructuring library liaison program.
- Work with SUNY CCD Committee and develop a CCD agreement with SUNY comprehensives.
- Work with Collection Development Team to address selection & liaison procedures (team proposed of liaisons, Head of IT, Serials, IDS, Head of Ref & Instr. & A.D.).
- Constantly monitor environmental conditions (curriculum changes @Geneseo, new minor programs of study, library environment, budget cuts @SUNY level, etc.).
- Examine gifts & donations program and assess current status.
- Create a new gifts policy.
- Work on preservation policy with Special Collections librarian.
Obviously not a one year plan, more like three or more...
